One of the TalkingShopping girls’ favorite guilty pleasures is secretly adoring the jewels crafted by the fabulous Tarina Tarantino. Sure, her stuff is a little on the wild side from time to time, but wild or not, her creations are all absolutely beautiful! So inventive! And what’s really exciting is that this week, Tarina debuted her highly anticipated, Wizard of Oz-inspired collection called “My Pretty.” Naturally, it definitely lived up to the hype! Leave it to Tarina to collaborate with Warner Bros. to celebrate the iconic film’s 70th anniversary, and do it in style! We couldn’t think of a more perfect fit!

Included in the collection are emerald lucite bracelets, ruby red earrings and necklaces, poppy flower hair clips, and gorgeous art deco lucite drop earrings (pictured), in an array of colors, that were featured in Glamour! Also in the collection is a limited-edition book, capturing a unique spin on the classic Wizard of Oz story, centered around Dorothy, a working L.A. girl on one fantastical day! Modeling TT’s “My Pretty” pieces in the book (in some amazingly shot photographs) are Kelly Osborne, Debi Mazar and Holly Owens! We can’t wait to get our hands on those deco earrings, and are definitely planning on grabbing a copy of the glossy, poster-sized book! Happy birthday WOZ!

during the recession. During tight times like these, independent retailers
suffer since budget-minded consumers are more inclined to shop at
chain stores and big-box behemoths.

For those of you who have been thirsting for some fresh Apple news since the last round of releases, this might just wet your appetite! According to MSNBC, which cites “two people with knowledge of the discussions,” Apple is set to release a new iTunes package code-named Cocktail. Apparently, Apple has been in talks with four different record labels to release the package, which will supposedly offer enhanced features when you buy an entire album on iTunes, like liner notes, artwork, ringtones and possibly even music videos. For the record companies, this will hopefully be a way of coercing iTunes customers to download entire albums instead of just individual songs, and for Apple, they’re hoping that Cocktail will be attractive in that it will beckon back to a time when people would site around with their friends, listening to music and flipping through the album’s artwork.

Awhile ago, Mary E. wrote in about a foreign conversion fee she had to pay when she made a purchase in U.S. dollars in Switzerland using her Capital One credit card. But the reason she used that card is Capital One doesn’t charge a conversion fee.
